Therapy Services

What types of therapy does Thrive Men's Counseling offer?

Thrive Men’s Counseling offers individual therapy services for adult men. All therapy sessions are provided virtually, using a HIPPA-compliant telehealth platform.

Based on your individual needs and preferences, treatment can include one or more of the following therapy techniques:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps many men manage problematic emotions and behaviors by working with the thought patterns that trigger them.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy can help clients who want to explore their thoughts and feelings on a deep level.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapies are powerful tools for treating underlying trauma that may be contributing to unpleasant emotions or undesired behaviors.
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques can help men develop life-improving skills and habits.

How is therapy at Thrive tailored to fit the unique needs of men?

Many men avoid mental health therapy because they fear being misunderstood or judged by their therapist. Some have even had that experience in the past. Thrive Counseling addresses this concern by providing you with a male therapist who has the training, professional experience and life experience needed to understand your challenges and help you overcome them. Your Thrive therapist will listen to you without judgment, offer new perspectives when helpful, and help you build on your strengths while developing new life-enhancing skills.

How long does therapy take?

Each therapy session is about 55 minutes long. The number of sessions required to complete therapy varies, depending on the complexity of the issues being addressed, the therapy techniques being used, and life events that occur during treatment. After your first few sessions, your therapist should be able to give you an estimate of how long your treatment will take. That estimate may change as your therapy progresses, based on progress made and changes you make to your treatment goals along the way.

What do I need for a virtual therapy session?

To join a virtual therapy session, you will need an up-to-date personal computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone. You will also need to be in a private location, where other people cannot hear or disturb you during your session.

Fees and Payment

How much does therapy cost at Thrive Men's Counseling?

The fee for each 50-minute therapy session is $130. Payment is due at the end of each session. Before beginning therapy, you will provide account information for at least one credit, debit, FSA or HSA card, which will be charged following each session. If you provide an FSA or HSA card for payment of therapy service fees, you will also need to provide a credit or debit card for payment of any no-show or cancellation fees that may arise.

What is your policy regarding cancellations and no-shows?

If you do not show for an appointment with your therapist, or if you cancel an appointment less than 24 hours before the scheduled appointment time, you will be responsible for paying a late-cancellation/no-show fee of $75. This fee will be charged to the credit card on file for your account.

Do you accept any insurance plans?

Thrive Men’s Counseling is not in network with insurance plans, so any services and fees provided by Thrive would be considered “out of network.” This means you will be responsible for paying Thrive directly for any therapy services you recieve. You can then submit claims for those services and fees to your insurance company, which will reimburse you at rates determined by the out-of-network benefits provided by your insurance plan. At your request, Thrive can provide detailed account statements you can use to submit claims to your insurance company for out-of-network benefits.
